IBM Ferrari
I’ve worked on a few projects for IBM now at Buck but these ones are some of my favorites! Buck was asked to create a short film for Ferrari showcasing the speed and precision of their new Formula 1. We decided to use repetition with a simplified mark based on the Formula 1’s front wing to achieve this. In the film we see our mark take sharp turns within a clean, geometric space taking on it’s opponent in a tough race but ultimately become victorious. My work on this film was mostly on the animation side but I also assisted with some lighting and comp work in Nuke.

Supporting Films
Along with the Hero film were these short supporting assets for IBM and Ferrari to use. The first uses repetition again along with a ribbon like streak to showcase speed and the data tracking of it. Our second film talks more about this precise design by using a wind tunnel design streaming over our mark showing how it stays tight to the ground to achieve victory. The second film I completed independently (animation, lighting, and compositing) while the first film I was mostly involved with the animation and comp. I also assisted with some lighting for it.
IBM UFC
IBM also tasked Buck with creating a short film for the UFC. They wanted us to showcase a match between two vicious opponents in a way that feels more data driven without the blood and violence we see in an actual fight. To achieve this, we looked to design an arena based on a tabletop game and used the UFC’s Octagon as our reference for it. The pieces would go through the stages of being chosen to battle and then make precise moves until one player ended up on top! I wasn’t as involved with these films but I did assist on this Hero film. I did some work on the animation side for a few of the opening shots as well as did some design and lighting on a few later shots.
